Hunger Games - Chapter 8


Chapter 8 (p. 103-113)
The chapter begins with Katniss secluding herself in her room, crying and fretting about what her actions will mean for her family. Finally, at dinner, when she tells the others of her actions, the stylists, Haymitch, Peeta and Effie are shocked. Peeta too felt he had been ignored by the Gamemakers. Katniss and Peeta find out their scores on television and everyone is shocked by Katniss’ score. Haymitch announces a change in strategy regarding Peeta and Katniss.

  1. What does Katniss believe will be the consequences of her actions at the private audition with the Gamemakers?

  2. What is the significance of the score given to each tribute? What is Peeta and Katniss’ score?

  3. How did Katniss meet Gale? How did the become a team?

  4. What role does Gale serve for Katniss? How does that compare/contrast with Peeta?

  5. What change in plans does Haymitch announce to Katniss?

    2- The significance of the score given to each tribute is because it gives you a better chance with sponsers. Peeta's score was an 8 and Katniss' score is an 11.

    1. Being killed, or her family being killed. GAH! What an emooo!!!

    2. One camp is always higher than the others. I can't think of the name. Pee's score is a 7 or 8. And Kat's score is an 11!!!!! WEEEEE!!!! SUIIIIIITEE PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

    3. It was a nice, October day. And Kat was shooting an arrow, and Gale stole it. LIL PUNK! And Kat and Gale were a team because Kat and Gale trusted eachother. Suckers...

    4. He's her "companion" ;) And her and Pee just started talking... Soooo... ITS UP IN THE AIR!!!

    5. Pee backstabbed her! HAAHAAAHAAA!!!!! THOSE STUPID BRITISH PEOPLE!!!!

    1 Katniss is afraid her family will get punished or she will get her toungue cut off.

    2 The score in most cases would determine the better players. Katniss scored 11 and Peeta scored 8.

    3 They were both out hunting on the same day.

    4 They are both contributors to her strengths and doubts.

    5 Peeta wants training sessions without Katniss.

    5- For Peeta to train without Katniss because Peeta wanted to do.
